ABOUT LE KHLOROS CONCERT

Founded in 2002 by Odile Perceau, Le Khloros Concert is a flexible orchestral ensemble formed by professional musicians from France and abroad. Le Khloros Concert performs a wide range of repertoire. The ensemble gathers regularly, depending on the productions and creations organized by the conductor and soloists. Le Khloros Concert opened its first season in September 2002 at the Sainte Chapelle in Paris, under the patronage of His Excellency the Ambassador of the United States. It has performed regularly since, and is currently preparing a production of Odile Perceau's first symphony, to be performed in 2014 at the

Cour Carrée du Louvre in Paris.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

   Perceau

A flutist by training, ODILE PERCEAU quickly developed an interest in conducting both orchestras and choirs, as well as in composition. She was on the faculty of the Hauts-de-Seine choir school and the Paris Opera Children's Choir from 1989 to 1991, during which time she also spent five years studying under the tutelage of Sergiu Celibidache, Conductor of the Munich Philharmonic.

Odile Perceau has been composing regularly since 1984.  In 1990, her Pièces Sacrées pour Chœur de Femmes and Corps de Ballet d'Hommes were performed in Paris' Saint Eustache church and recorded for France Musique.  That same year, she conducted Monteverdi's Orfeo at the Château de Lascours Festival.

In 1991, the bicentenary of Mozart's death, she conducted the composer's Mass in C Minor in both Paris and Prague with the Altaïr Symphonic Orchestra and the Children´s Choir of the Paris Opera. In 1994, she wrote the musical comedy Vivre that is dedicated to children living with AIDS. The production was performed in France, the Ivory Coast and the United States. In 1998, she composed, conducted and recorded with the soloists of the Bordeaux-Aquitaine National Orchestra, the musical score for the animated film Les Globulyss that was created for children living with leukemia and broadcast on France 3 and ARTE.  Since 1998, Odile Perceau has worked regularly as an artistic director for recordings for the independent classical music labels Solstice and Timpani.

In 2002, she founded Khloros Concert, which brings together professional musicians and singers from France and abroad.  In its first season, this new debuted in Nîmes and Montpellier and included a performance at the Sainte Chapelle, in Paris, under the high patronage of His Excellency the Ambassador of the United States, in a program dedicated to Pergolesi and Perceau's own compositions for string orchestra.  That same year, she met Elisabeth Furtwängler, wife of the late, legendary conductor, Wilhelm Furtwängler.

In 2001, Odile Perceau began composing the Partitas Romanes, which she completed in 2005.  They were written for Agnès Pereira and Etienne Péclard and dedicated to Elisabeth Furtwängler.  2007 saw the creation of her first string quartet, Garonne, which was composed for the Bordeaux Quartet and dedicated to Ioana Celibidache.

   Quatuor de Bordeaux

The QUATUOR DE BORDEAUX brings together four soloists hailing from different backgrounds but who all share a common passion for chamber music. Having quickly made their mark, they now perform at many of today's distinguished classical music events such as La folle journée in Nantes, Bilboa and Tokyo, the St. Petersburg's Festival of Palaces, and the Bordeaux International Competition.  With a passion for gathering and sharing a multitude of musical influences, the ensemble regularly performs alongside many of the world's leading soloists. Regularly, they are invited as soloists to perform the Concerti for String Quartet and Orchestra by Ludwig Spohr, as well as works by Bohuslav Martinu and Edward Elgar, in music festivals throughout France. Dedicatee of many musical compositions, the Bordeaux Quartet has also performed film and ballet scores in a variety of styles.  The ensemble attaches great importance to teaching chamber music and offering master classes. An active participant in the Bordeaux Opera's chamber music season, the Bordeaux Quartet celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2011.
